The Digestive Protocol is designed to help your body function more efficiently by making use of the food you eat. Undigested food not only deprives the body of needed nutrients, but also poisons the system and triggers autoimmune response causing the body to attack itself.

Proteins:
Complete breakdown of proteins from all sources; animal, plant and parasitic (live parasites, microscopic organisms and their eggs) is crucial for the following reasons. Protein breakdown occurs in stomach in a highly acid environment.
Low acidity insures the following:

Fats:
Consumption of adequate amounts fats like butter and coconut oil with every meal are an absolute dietary requirement for; energy production, longevity, maintenance and regeneration of body tissues and hormone production.
Approximately 80% of usable energy should derive from the burning of dietary fats. To convert fats into usable energy, they must be absorbed and transported to the liver for processing and conversion. Just eating fats is not sufficient to get the job done.
In order to assimilate dietary fats, the body must secrete sufficient bile. Bile is the waste that the liver removes from the blood and stores in the gallbladder. Eating triggers the release of bile and bile trigger the bowels to move.
As the body ages, bile production diminishes. Bile production drops dramatically after age 35 and becomes progressively worse as people age. The average person age 35 and older lives on approximately 25-50% of food consumed. Translated, this means people are forfeiting 50-75% of their potential energy base because they cannot digest and process their food.
And without enough available energy, the body cannot grow, heal and repair itself. Choice of food is extremely important, but the ability to process food is perhaps more important and fats are in an energy class all their own.

Carbohydrates:
Carbohydrates should comprise not more than 20% of dietary intake because they impose a heavy burden on the system. Simple sugars are a dietary disaster regardless if they derive from table sugar, refined flour, fruit and fruit juices, agave or high fructose corn syrup.
Carbohydrates severely overloads the pancreas and unbalances the microbiome (gut flora and matrix).
